Casey was first introduced to yoga and the power of the breath when she was completing her Master’s Thesis, A Prayer for the Earth: Discovering a New Cosmological Vision Through a Reading of Linda Hogan’s Power and Gregory Maguire’s Wicked from an Ecofeminist, Earth-Centered and Spiritual Perspective. Part of her thesis explored the power of the wind and therefore the breath highlighting the influence the breath has on the individual and universal level. From there she began exploring numerous practices and types of yoga. Each gave her new perspectives and new growth opportunities in her own understanding of how yoga influenced her daily life. It was the physical practice that brought her to yoga at first, but the emotional and mental well-being it provided her was what kept her coming back to the mat.
Casey’s personal practice and teaching style includes vinyasa flow, restorative, and gentle. She likes to incorporate readings and music as ways to connect the practice of yoga on and off the mat. She hopes when people leave her class they feel balanced, refreshed, mindful, and grounded. She is grateful for any opportunity to share with others all of what yoga has brought to her life and the differences it has made for her.
She currently lives in Ashland, NH with her husband Andre, her two rescue dogs Stanley and Faelan, and her rescue cat Elbie. When she is not on her mat, she enjoys Crossfit, running, hiking in the lakes region, and reading as much as she can.
