Matthew Harkins
Yoga Instructor

Matthew discovered yoga while playing sports in college.
He frequently battled injuries and chronic joint pain.
What was thought to be a part of the game was actually from a lack of embodiment and understanding of what his body was telling him.
A typical masculine way of life. All charge, no retreat.

Learning to follow the breath allowed him to improve his root problems; proper postural alignment, breathing mechanics, and living a mindful lifestyle.
He’s passionate about the journey of finding a poses edge and breathing through it.
Keeping a calm mind and an active body.
He believes as you deepen your own personal practice, you will deepen your own human experience!

After graduating college, Matthew spent a month volunteering at a Buddhist temple to learn about meditation techniques and meet some like-minded people.
There he met some amazing people that shared in the interest of deeply healing and changing their perspective on life.
All of it rounded out to living a more present, grateful, and purpose driven life.
He decided to become a Yoga Instructor to share some of his experience and  knowledge with unraveling the source of unwanted pain, discomfort, and unease in the body and mind. To be a guide for people trying to go within and understand themselves on a deeper level.

When he’s not teaching yoga you can find him climbing the trees on the state house lawn, surfing at Rye beach, cooking in the kitchen, and/or hanging out enjoying nature.
